Terms of Service

Please read these terms carefully before using SlashSnip

1. Acceptance of Terms

By installing, accessing, or using SlashSnip ("the Extension"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Extension.

These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and HarpCode ("we", "us", or "our").

2. Description of Service

SlashSnip is a Chrome browser extension that expands text snippets in any text field on the web. The Extension provides:

  • Text snippet creation and management
  • Trigger-based expansion (// or @@ patterns)
  • Dynamic variables (dates, clipboard, cursor position)
  • Categories and organization
  • Export/Import functionality
  • 22 language localizations

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any aspect of the Extension at any time without prior notice.

3. Plans, Billing and Refunds

3.1 Available plans

SlashSnip provides a free tier with core text expansion features and paid PRO plans for advanced features including fill-in fields, advanced variables, encrypted backup, and usage insights. PRO is offered both as a renewing subscription and, when listed on the pricing page, as a one-time Lifetime purchase. Current pricing, plan inclusions, and any availability limits (for example, a capped number of Lifetime seats) are shown on the pricing page at the moment of purchase.

3.2 Lifetime purchase scope

A Lifetime purchase grants the buyer continued access to features included in the PRO tier as it exists from time to time. "Lifetime" refers to the operating life of the SlashSnip product, not your personal lifetime; if we discontinue the product entirely, the Lifetime grant ends with the product. We will provide reasonable advance notice in the Extension and on this site before any discontinuation takes effect.

A Lifetime license is paired with the email address used at checkout. License keys are personal and non-transferable; they may not be sold, gifted, sublicensed, or shared with another person or organization. Activating a Lifetime license with an email that does not match the purchase email will fail, and repeated mismatched attempts may temporarily lock the license against further attempts as an anti-abuse measure. Operators can clear that lock manually after verifying ownership through the support channel listed below.

3.3 Refunds

Our refund terms are described in the Refund Policy. In summary: subscription PRO can be canceled at any time and stops renewing at the end of the current paid period; a refund within thirty (30) days of the most recent charge can be requested by contacting support. Lifetime purchases are refundable within thirty (30) days of the original purchase, after which the purchase is final.

When a refund is issued, the corresponding entitlement is revoked: PRO subscription access ends at the period boundary chosen by us at refund time, and a refunded Lifetime license is added to a revocation list. The refunded Lifetime seat continues to count against the published Lifetime cap to prevent refund-cycling abuse; the operator can restore the seat manually after review (see Section 3.5).

3.4 Chargebacks and disputes

Disputes filed with your payment provider are tracked when we receive the corresponding webhook from Stripe. Opening a dispute does not, by itself, end your entitlement. If the dispute is later closed against you (we win the dispute, you keep no refund), your access continues unchanged. If the dispute is closed in your favor and the funds are returned to you (we "lose" the dispute), the corresponding license is revoked using the same mechanism as a refund.

3.5 Manual operator actions

We may revoke a license outside of the automated refund and dispute paths if a license is found to violate these Terms (for example, sharing or resale). We may also reissue or restore a license after manual verification, for instance when a legitimate buyer is locked out by a typo in the activation email or a refund was later reversed. All such operator actions are recorded in our internal audit ledger.

3.6 Runtime entitlement validation

The Extension validates paid entitlements with our server periodically. The Extension may continue to grant PRO features for a brief offline grace window after the last successful validation, but a license that has been revoked, refunded, or fails repeated validation will eventually lose PRO access on subsequent online checks. Free-tier features remain available regardless of paid validation state.

4. User Conduct

You agree NOT to:

  • Use the Extension for any illegal purpose
  • Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Extension
  • Remove or modify any copyright or proprietary notices
  • Use the Extension to interfere with other users or websites
  • Distribute, sell, or sublicense the Extension without authorization
  • Use automated systems to access the Extension in a manner that exceeds reasonable use
  • Create snippets containing malicious code or scripts

Violation of these terms may result in termination of your access to the Extension.

5. Your Content

You retain full ownership of all snippets and content you create using SlashSnip. Since all data is stored locally on your device, you are solely responsible for:

  • The content of your snippets
  • Backing up your data using the Export feature
  • Ensuring your snippets comply with applicable laws

6. Intellectual Property

6.1 Ownership

SlashSnip, including all code, design, graphics, and documentation, is owned by HarpCode and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.

6.2 License Grant

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Extension for personal and commercial purposes in accordance with these Terms.

6.3 Feedback

If you provide feedback, suggestions, or ideas about the Extension, you grant us the right to use such feedback without compensation or attribution.

7. Privacy

Your use of SlashSnip is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your information.

Key points:

  • All snippets are stored locally on your device
  • We do not collect browsing history or personal data
  • Billing and license data is exchanged with Stripe and our server when you purchase PRO. Help desk and uninstall feedback submissions are stored server-side. Snippet content is never transmitted.
  • Optional tips and updates emails start only after a separate email confirmation step. Future optional emails will include unsubscribe instructions, and you can still contact support@slashsnip.com if you need withdrawal help before those emails exist.

8. Limitation of Liability

8.1 Disclaimer of Warranties

THE EXTENSION IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.

8.2 Limitation of Damages

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, HARPCODE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE EXTENSION.

8.3 Maximum Liability

Our total liability for any claims arising from these Terms or your use of the Extension shall not exceed $50 USD.

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless HarpCodefrom any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from:

  • Your use of the Extension
  • Your violation of these Terms
  • Your violation of any third-party rights

10. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by:

  • Posting a notice in the Extension
  • Updating the "Last updated" date below

Your continued use of the Extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

11. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Poland, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Extension shall be resolved through binding arbitration or in the courts of Poland, at our discretion.
